Do you know why commentators like Aakash Chopra and Jatin Sapru are not seen in IPL Hindi commentary? Let me explain. Tata IPL broadcast rights have been bought by Star Sports and Jio Hotstar for a total of 48,000 crore rupees
. In this, Star Sports acquired 23,575 crore, and Viacom18, that is Jio Hotstar, bought broadcast rights for 23,758 crore. Jio Hotstar streams live in different languages like Bengali, English, Hindi, Bhojpuri, Haryanvi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, and Bhojpuri again. However, most people prefer Hindi commentary, and the audience likes listening to Aakash Chopra and Jatin Sapru. In fact, 70% of people in India listen to Hindi commentary. So, very few people listen in other languages. Hence, Jio Hotstar decided that this IPL, Aakash Chopra and Jatin Sapru will not do commentary. Star Sports even removed Jatin Sapru from the commentary list completely. The point is, if everyone listens to Hindi commentary, then there will be very few people listening in other languages, because it costs a lot in their management—for example, the commentators' salaries, their dress, cameras, and employees—all of this costs crores. Now, in both Star and Jio Hotstar, people in each state listen in their own regional language. What is your opinion on this? Let me know in the comments.
